Perfect for Carrousing

Fun music with lots of energy. Melodies that almost beg to be sung with a glass of stout

What's with the Name?

Mac and Cheese is the only band name possible for people whose last names are McCauley and Cheesebrow. We didn't really have a choice in the matter.

Hey...we're professionals

You don't need to worry about the details. We got it. We bring our own sound equipment and even show up on time at the right place most of the time...not to brag or anything.

The Mac and Cheese Band is a dynamic roots-music powerhouse out of the Twin Cities, renowned for turning acoustic sets into full-blown celebrations.
Founded in 2018 by veteran Minnesota musicians Pete McCauley and Tim Cheesebrow, the duo bridges the gap between traditional heritage music and modern folk-rock.

Their signature sound is a masterclass in multi-instrumental fusion of the driving rhythm of Celtic pub traditionalists, the storytelling of Americana, and the hook-driven energy of classic rock.

The band’s professional momentum is backed by a track record of crowd engagement. Following their 2019 debut album Big Fun, they expanded their footprint across the Midwest, culminating in their selection as an Official Showcase Artist at the Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) conference following the release of their 2025 EP, Eclipse.

Whether anchoring a main stage or keeping the energy alive in a festival beer garden, The Mac and Cheese Band brings a highly professional, technically precise, and deeply engaging performance. Their ability to connect with diverse crowds makes them a versatile and reliable addition to any roots, folk, or community festival lineup.

Meet Mac (Pete McCauley)

In 1996, he co-founded the original rock trio Eddie Mac, with whom he spent a few years traveling the country, earning a record contract with SPV Records in Germany, and releasing two critically acclaimed albums – “DAMN!” (1999) and “Space Factory” (2000).

Pete created a band called Stand at the Door in 2002 and produced two albums of original material – “Stand at the Door” (2004) and “Snackbox” (2006).

He co-founded the Celtic folk rock band Hounds of Finn in 2007, which has put out two albums – “Songs of Men in Boats” (2010) and “Gravity Pulls” (2013), the latter of which contained several tracks that placed on the national folk radio charts.

In 2019, Pete joined forces with singer-songwriter Tim Cheesebrow to create the Mac & Cheese duo, which performs at many local and regional venues (and recorded an album called “Big Fun” (2019).

In addition to performing, Pete is a full time Media Producer / Director / Digital Storyteller at the University of Minnesota.

Primarily a guitar player and singer, Pete discovered a passion for playing the mandolin when he joined with Leslie Rich in 2007 to form the Hounds of Finn. Since then, he’s been on a mission to gain a bit of mastery over any fretted instrument he can get his hands on.

Pete has studied and performed many styles of music, with a focus on Celtic roots music over the last decade or so. His original material would be best described as contemporary folk rock, taking influences from across the spectrum. Additionally, Pete has written and recorded a few jingles for local organizations.

Meet Cheese (Tim Cheesebrow)

Tim started writing songs in the 90’s as a way to make sense of the world. He studied the craft in earnest while getting his degree in classical music composition, and cemented his style while volunteering at a monastery and school near New Orleans.

His music layers an eclectic mix of styles to create a sound with modern grooves, catchy melodies, and a sense of being grounded in deep roots. He’s known for his percussive guitar work, capo-wizardry, and an expressive voice big enough to fill any room.

He looks to music as a source of healing and puts that magic to work at each performance so listeners leave with more than they expected to find. Tim’s calm and passionate presence, combined with his thoughtful song-craft, make him a favorite of intimate listening rooms.
